COMBUSTION AND CONTROL
Combustion is a chemical reaction in which a fuel (pellet) and an oxidizer (air), through an ignition (electric resistance), combine producing heat.
For combustion to occur correctly, fuel and air must be present in the right proportions.
It is recommended to use exclusively wood pellets with a diameter of 6 mm and a maximum length of 30 mm.
The AQUA stoves from Moretti Design are equipped with a differential pressure gauge, which detects the depression upstream of the brazier and sends a numerical value to the electronic control unit.
The control unit:
- Processes the value received from the differential pressure gauge.
- Compares the data with the optimal operating ranges, stored in the parameters for each power level.
- If the detected value is out of range, it automatically adjusts the combustion parameters to bring it back within the correct limits.
We can distinguish two cases:
🔻 Differential pressure gauge value below the range
Possible causes:
- Insufficient draft
- Low-quality pellets
System intervention:
- Increases the smoke fan speed up to the allowed limit for the set power.
- If not sufficient, acts on the auger, decreasing the amount of pellets up to the allowed limit for that power.
🔺 Differential pressure gauge value above the range
System intervention:
- Decreases the smoke fan speed up to the allowed limit for the set power.
- If not sufficient, acts on the auger, increasing the amount of pellets up to the allowed limit for that power.
FCS Enable / Disable
The parameter A24 allows activating or deactivating the FCS system:
Menu path:
System Menu → Primary Air Regulator → Settings
- A24 = 1 → FCS enabled
- A24 = 0 → FCS disabled
Verification of installation conditions and pellet quality
On thermo-stoves/boilers equipped with FCS, it is possible to evaluate:
- Installation conditions
- Pellet quality
- Correctness of combustion
Verification procedure:
- With the boiler on and in Normal state, access the Information Menu.
- Read:
- Smoke Fan Speed (RPM)
- Value of Flow detected by the differential pressure gauge
Knowing:
- The factory values of the Smoke Fan (see Parameter Manual)
- The correct range between Minimum Flow and Maximum Flow
If variations in fan speed compared to factory values are found, it means that the FCS system has intervened to bring combustion back into the optimal flow range.
