Configuration description
The Hydraulic Configuration 4 provides for the connection of the Aqua stove/boiler to a thermal storage system (buffer tank) equipped with a temperature probe S1.
Activating the configuration requires:
- correct setting of parameters on the electronic control unit;
- electrical connection of the NTC-10K probe to the dedicated input (IN10).
SCHEME 1 – Thermal storage system (buffer tank) with a single temperature probe (S1)
The system regulation is done by direct reading of the buffer tank temperature via an NTC 10K probe connected to the control unit.
Control unit parameters
| Parameter | Value | Function |
|---|---|---|
| P26 | 4 | Selects hydraulic configuration 4 |
| P73 | 9 | Enables buffer temperature probe S1 for stoves/boilers |
| Ih58 | 2°C default | Buffer thermostat hysteresis (Value subtracted from buffer setpoint to determine the generator restart threshold in standby condition) |
| D23 | 4°C default | Delta to add to boiler setpoint for switching from modulation to standby at the end of time T43 (10 s default) |
| Th81 | 5°C default | Boiler Probe - Buffer Probe Differential |
A temperature differential is provided (default 5 °C), for control unit PSYSL01000263 (MB250) the parameter to check as Boiler Probe - Buffer Probe Differential is T37=5°C
Operational notes:
P26=4 Selects hydraulic configuration 4
P73=9 Enables buffer temperature probe S1 for stoves/boilers
Ih58= 2 °C default - Buffer thermostat hysteresis (Value subtracted from buffer setpoint to determine the generator restart threshold in standby condition).
D23= 4 °C default - Delta to add to boiler setpoint for switching from modulation to standby at the end of time T43 (10 s default)
Th81= 5 °C default - Boiler Probe - Buffer Probe Differential
Technical note
It is recommended to set the boiler/stove setpoint temperature higher than the buffer setpoint, to ensure proper energy transfer.
Connection of buffer temperature probe (S1)
Stoves with rear connectors:
- TECNIKA TURBO GLASS, TECNIKA FOR HOME, TURBO TOP, TURBO GLASS, PRESTIGE, EXCLUSIVE, TECNIKA EXCLUSIVE
- The S1 probe is connected to the control unit at output IN10 (Probe: NTC-10K; Moretti Article: MFSONDC)
Stoves without rear connectors:
- ALADINO, ELEGANCE, CLESSIDRA, ERGONOMIC, COMPACT, VISION, SLOT VISION, DOLBY
- Connect the S1 probe cables directly to the control unit at PIN 52 – PIN 53 GND (output IN10) (Probe: NTC-10K; Moretti Article: MFSONDC)
Verification of buffer temperature probe connection
To verify the correct connection and reading of the buffer temperature probe, proceed as follows:
- Access the remote control.
- Enter the User Menu.
- Select the item “Information”.
Within this screen, the temperature detected by probe S1 is displayed once activated (P73=9).
To modify the buffer setpoint, proceed as follows:
- Access the remote control.
- Enter the User Menu.
- Select the item “Thermostats”.
- Select the item “Buffer”.
In this section, it is possible to set the buffer temperature setpoint.
Technical check:
- If the temperature is displayed correctly and is consistent with the actual buffer temperature, the connection is correct.
- In case of missing value, fixed value, or inconsistent value, check:
- correct wiring on the control unit;
- integrity of the probe (NTC 10K);
- correct enabling of parameters in the control unit (P26 and P73).
Operating logic:
Example_1:
· STAND-BY when the buffer setpoint is reached
The boiler/stove enters standby mode when the buffer reaches the set temperature.
· Pump (circulator P1) shutdown
The circulator (pump P1) is deactivated only when the difference between the boiler temperature and the buffer temperature falls below the value set by parameter Th81 (default: 5 °C).
Example of operation:
Temperature difference:
Boiler temperature (probe reading) − Buffer temperature (probe reading) = ΔT
Boiler temperature (probe reading) = 70 °C
Buffer temperature (probe reading) = 63 °C
ΔT= 7 °C → Pump P1 operates
When ΔT= 5 °C (equal to Th81), water circulation stops.
· WARNING: The boiler enters standby mode when the set boiler temperature (boiler setpoint) increased by the differential D23 (default: +4 °C) is reached.
Setting the boiler temperature too low may prevent the buffer from reaching its setpoint. This can cause continuous on/off cycles, resulting in suboptimal product operation.
